One of the best purchases I have made in my lifetime has been my Die Cutting Machines and some dies because I have saved so much money (well, you know what I mean) by making my own cards like these baby girl card ideas! Doing this has given me a creative outlet in my cards and scrapbook layouts and have the capability to make original cards for others. I love that and I know that all of you do too, since we share the same passion!
I made these cards mainly with Spellbinders dies and my brand new, pretty blue Sizzix Big Shot machine! I love the new face lift on it! Both cards were easy enough for a beginner and a lot of fun to put together! It is so fun making cards for new mommies and their babies! They are excited about every thing-including the cards! BTW- I kept the wax paper that I used to cut the butterfly out on it to soften the color of the card stock and it gave the embossed parts a naturally frosted look.

You don’t have to have a lot of fancy dies to create fun cards, just get creative with what you have!
All of you out there who are new to card making, these beginner cards are just for you! If you think I’m lying, please know that my mother-in-law actually made these. She hasn’t scrapbooked in probably 20 years and has never used a die-cutting machine….ever. She had so much fun making these and is truly converted and it only took me about 20 minutes to convert her to die-cutting. Success!
For all of you beginners, this is what you need.
1. Die-cutting machine (click HERE to see all of the cool machines we carry)
2. Paper/cardstock
3. One or two dies
4. Embellishments (stamps, bling, etc.). You can literally use anything you want for this step! Anything.
My mother-in-law was so excited that this is all you need to get started. We made more than these two cards with just those 4 things and they all turned out different. You really don’t need a store’s supply of product to get started, just a few things (and you probably have most of those around your house!).
I looked back and I do a lot of last minute cards because I guess that is how I do things so here is a Fathers Day card idea for all of you that work like I do “Last Minute”. This card was actually inspired by our 9 year old daughter because she made mom a Mothers Day card that did a pop up MOM inside so we decided to do the same for Fathers Day. We started out jut making six cuts in the top fold of the card stock and pushed every other one into the card, this makes the tabs that you glue the DAD onto. Next just build the layers of paper up for the base, we used Bo Bunny’s Trail Mix Collection. the finishing touches were these cute Hero Arts Stamps.
So here is an idea if you have put it off until now and I hope all you Dads have a great Fathers Day tomorrow!
I wanted to make a Just because Card Idea with Spellbinders this time, just because. I really love the dies from Spellbinders and QuicKutz and I have used them a few times in my Blogs but I just could not resist using them again. I love how simple and east this card is to make and with little product as well. I used a warm color red for my card stock and then a piece of scrap paper from my other designs. Then I used Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One as well as QuicKutz, Nesting Flowers die to finish off my card. This card is fast to make and can be used for any occasion and Just Because you wanted to brighten someones day!!

We are getting down to crunch time, so this Father’s Day Sizzix treat box will be my last Father’s Day project to show you.
My parents are going to Ireland in a few weeks, so they have asked that instead of gifts, they would like us to give money so they can purchase souvenirs, since my dad is semi-retired and this trip was kind of a surprise. Well, that’s all fine and dandy, but I don’t want to just give money in a card, so I thought I would put it in with some fun treats for him.
I loved the wood grain on this particular sheet from Bo Bunny‘s Trail Mix 12×12 Collection Pack and combined with Sizzix Bigz Pro Die – Box, Tall with Scallop Flap, it created a mini cabin look. Well, some might say it looks like an outhouse, but either way it looks rustic, so we’ll just leave it up to my dad as to what he sees. Point-there is no half moon on the front!
I used two sheets out of the Trail Mix Collection Pack. One for the box and one for the Window and sign. The lantern was hand cut out of the back side of the wood grain sheet. I wanted it to look like a window so I chose the sheet with some foilage to give it more interest and inked around the edges for dimension. I put the sign on adhesive foam squares to give it some dimention, broke up a stick that my nephew left in my car (it was the perfect size) and placed the pieces around the window as a rough frame. I glued the lantern to one side of the frame. I inked the scallops on the roof with black soot to give it a burnt wood look and to help it stand out.

It’s June and that means a lot of us will be attending weddings, which means that everyone will need a healthy supply of Summer Wedding Cards! I’m always so grateful to have some on hand because I’m always running late to the reception and in need of a card.
If you’re thinking that these cards look like too much work, let me assure you that they’re not. I just made the big move from Utah to Texas (and we love it) and I was able to manage creating two beautiful cards amidst unpacking, putting my house together, having family in town, teaching my mother-in-law how to make cards, etc. These really are conducive to your busy summer schedule. One must have that I will never say loud enough is that you NEED the Bitty Blossoms by Spellbinders. NEED. It’s not a want, people. It’s second to breathing.
Second, I want to feature the Scalloped Borders One die that I used on these two cards. I was a little skeptical when I got these. I wasn’t sure if it would be something I would like to use on cards, or any project for that matter. Now that I have used them, I don’t know if I’ll ever make another card without using them! They are beautiful!!! Absolutely darling! You can see it best on the second card, but I love the detail on both and they take it up an extra beautiful notch. Go crazy with your flowers and it will blow your mind at how beautiful your cards turn out!

Have fun attending all those weddings! Your cards are going to be a hit!
Wow it has been a busy week for my first week of summer break from teaching so Heather and I needed a quick and easy spread so we grabbed our Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Collection and all of the stamps that correspond to them and made this Wedding Spread. I admit to this not taking all day because sometimes we all have weeks like this one where it is difficult to do much of anything. If this is the case for you than these sets are perfect because you don’t have to think too much about whether or not your paper and everything else will match you just have to basically put it all together. When Heather and I pulled out this paper we both thought that we needed some wedding pictures for it because it is so elegant. lastly we added some ribbon from American Crafts and just like that it was finished.
Hope this helps when you are in a pinch for time. These heartfelt Creations packets are very helpful and make such cute pages is very little time.
Last week I did a Fathers Day card for my dad, so this week I thought I would do A Fathers Day Card with QuicKutz for my Husband. This is one of my favorite cards that I have done, mostly because of the colors that I was able to use thanks to Bo Bunny. I used Bo Bunny, Very Vintage 6×6 collection to pick my colors and also because I just love the double dot design. I also used QuicKutzdie to cut out my squares. I love this Die because it has the scalloped edges and I thought it added just a little more to the card. I also used, as I usually do for my projects, Hero HuesChalk ink to add definition to my die cuts. I don’t think you can go wrong with this card for Fathers day. It is fast to make, easy to make, and it will sure let your Father or Husband know how much you love him for taking the time to make him a special card.

I mentioned yesterday that my dad is pretty mechanical, and so is my sweet husband, so I made him this Going Places Father’s Day card using the Going Places Vintage Labels stamp set from JustRite Stampers and Doubledots 6×6 paper pads from Bo Bunny.
My hubby love old cars, so this set is absolutely perfect for my card. We have several old cars around our place getting older by the minute waiting for him to fulfill his dreams of restoring them! He even found his actual old high school race car, a ’64 Chevelle Malibu at a junk yard in southern Utah, so he bought it back and has the place of honor in my garage while he tinkers with it occasionally. Sometimes dreams take a while to come to fruition, right?
Back to the card- Another reason I love this set is that it coordinates with an exclusive Spellbinders die set, so I can cut the images out perfectly without the use of scissors! YAY! Anything to make life easier!

I feel much better knowing that I didn’t wait until last minute to make his card! Only a week and a half left until Father’s Day! If you are needing something to help you with those masculine cards, click HERE!
If you are like me, you have tons of flowers, pastels, and frilly, girly products to work with, but what about Father’s Day cardmaking products? Do you scramble through all of your supplies to find something “manly” enough to put together a card for you dad, husband or grandfather? If you are tired of doing this, then we can help!
Father’s Day is in a week and a half, so you will want to act NOW! We have a variety of manly products that will enable you to make great masculine cards for any occasion! You can find these items by clicking HERE or going to the Father’s Day Theme.
No matter what type of guy your special man is, I’m sure you can find something that will fit his personality whether is is embossing folders, stamps, dies or paper. Take a look at some of the things I found that will fit my dad. He can fix just about anything, so he is mechanically inclined. He was in the navy. He wears plaid shirts a lot and he loves crossword puzzles and being outdoors!
I found products from Sizzix, Heartfelt Creations, Spellbinders, Authentique, Quickutz and JustRite Stampers, but there are a lot more than this!
Have fun shopping for those special items that will help you make your dad that special heartfelt card!
Get ready for Father’s Day with this Father’s Day Treat box! You can make it in about 15 minutes and give it to your dear old dad, your husband, or your son if you wish. It’s suiting for everyone and I’m sure they’re appreciate the little goodies inside! I am terribly in love with the QuicKutz Treat Box because you can use it for so many occasions and little surprises. Seriously, it’s a wonderful die to have around the house and people love ‘em (trust me, I get so many compliments on this die).
I used the Authentique Summer paper for my box because it can be masculine and fun at the same time. I feel like some masculine paper is so dark and dreary, but this is so fun! You can really go crazy with just paper!
This project is really just as easy as 1, 2, 3.
1. Cut paper out with the treat box die.
2. Add embellishments.
3. Add treats.
How could Father’s Day get easier than that? Try it. You’ll love it and they’ll love you for it.
Heather and I just got a sampler of markers from American Crafts and we both wanted to play around them so we both did some cardmaking and here is what we got in the end. on mine, I used Hero Arts Tag Collection for the most part for the stamps and used the markers to add the color, The markers were very smooth and had great transition colors so you can get the look of shadows. I also love this tag set because it has everything to finish a card, I made the flower separate from the card and added foam stickers to the back so there was a shadow edge around it.
Heathers used the Heartfelt Creations Sun kissed Fleur background set for her Thinking of You card. I think she did a great job with the markers as this was really her first time using markers with things like this.
These markers are so much fun and are so easy to use so give them a try.
We just celebrated Mothers day and so we know the next big day is upon us, so I wanted to make a Bo Bunny Fathers day card. I have one of the coolest fathers that ever lived. My father served in the Military for 27 years and was a Fighter Pilot for the Unites States Air Force. Pretty amazing job if I do say so myself. My father is a simple man. He doesn’t need a lot of things, he just wants to be surrounded by his loved ones so I wanted to make a card that I thought fit his personality. Bo Bunny has the perfect paper, Natural Necessities Double Dot Design, that I had to use for this design. I also wanted to show you a different way to use the Sizzix, Banners in a different way then just a Birthday card. Then of course I used Hero Hues Chalk ink to add a little more to my card. It is a simple card but it sure lets your Father know that he means the world to you and that he is #1 in your eyes. What Dad doesn’t want that?

I love this new Sizzix658451 Bigz ScoreBoards XL Birdhouse 3-D die that creates a birdhouse not for the birds, but for us! It is darling and so much fun to make! You can use this for decoration, or for treats! I am thinking about putting acetate over the opening, then leave one side of the roof accessible so it can lift up for yummy little treats! A small magnet would enable me to keep it closed, but easily lift up when needed. To view this and other ScoreBoard dies, click HERE.
The assembled measurement of this die-cut shape is approximately 3/4 x 3 3/4 x 2 3/8″, so it is not very big, but I was so delighted with it that sat and giggled while putting it together. My hubby thought I was going nutty in my scrapbook room, but who cares! He knows me well enough to know that it doesn’t take much to make me happy (which is good for him!). Seriously, I do get excited over the littlest things, which is why my walls are covered with shelves of brads, buttons, eyelets, and flowers…its the little things which count, right?
Anyway, here are the products I used to finish this birdhouse.
